Detailed Itinerary for 8 Days Wildlife Safari in Botswana.

Day 1: Pickup in Maun and Transfer to Okavango River Delta

Pick-up by our company representative from your hotel or upon your arrival at the airport in Maun. After getting acquainted with your guide/driver, you will then embark on a seven hours’ drive to Mokgoro. The reserve is situated in the North-western part of Botswana. Upon your arrival in Mokgoro, check into your camp and have lunch. Spend the rest of your evening relaxing at the camp or simply take a short stroll around the camp premises.

Day 2: River cruise and Village Tour

Wake up to a beautiful sunrise. Enjoy a hot cup of African tea or coffee accompanied with some delightful snacks. You will then take a trip on a Mokoro down the Okavango River where you will view lots of wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles, zebra, elephants, and buffalos among others. The area is also rich in birdlife which you can easily view during your river cruise.

You will also have an opportunity to explore the traditional villages along the western fringes of the delta which will make the highlight of your day’s trip. Get to spend quality interacting with friendly locals as you learn more about their unique culture and way of life.

Day 3: Big 5 Game Drive.

Wake up in the morning and have breakfast at your camp. Your journey today will take you to the Moremi Game Reserve which is ranked among one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa. Embark on a spectacular game drive in the park where you are certain to find all the Big Five animals including lions, leopard, African savannah elephants, Black and white rhinos and not forgetting the Cape buffalo. Head back to your camp for lunch and rest for the afternoon. Later in the evening you will head back out for another game drive in the reserve.

Dinner and overnight at Third Bridge Camp/ Xakanaxa Camp.

Day 4: Nature Walk.

Have your breakfast and head out to explore more of Moremi Game Reserve. This time round you will be exploring the game reserve on foot as you embark on a guided nature walk in the reserve. Take in the beautiful scenery in the game reserve and experience close encounters with wildlife roaming in the reserve. Return back to your camp in time for lunch and relax for the rest of your evening.

Day 5: Transfer to Khwai Wilderness Camp and Big 5 Game Drive

After having your breakfast, bid your farewells to that area of Moremi Game Reserve and transfer to Khwai Wilderness Camp- still within the game reserve. En route to the camp, you will explore some interesting sites such as the Dead tree Island- an area filled with dead Mopane trees surrounding a pan of open water. The Mopane trees are resistant to termites and are partly submerged in water.

Day 6: Explore Savuti Nature Reserve and Transfer to Chobe National Park.

Wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast at the camp. Today you will journey to the famous Savuti Nature Reserve where you will such for the Big 5 game during a guided game drive safari in the reserve. You will also see other wildlife animals such as giraffes, zebra, impala, Sitatunga and many more.

After lunch, you will transfer to Chobe national park which is one of the largest national parks in Africa. It is also Botswana’s first national park following its establishment in 1967. Upon your arrival in the park, drive to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay at Ihaha Camp.

Day 7: Morning Game Drive and Sunset River Cruise

After having your breakfast, head out for a morning game drive in the park. Chobe national park has the largest population of elephants hence do not be surprised when you come across large herds of elephants as they make their way to Chobe River where they usually converge to quench their thirst and bath. You will also view other wildlife like rhinos, buffalo, waterbuck, elands, reedbuck, leopards, and lions among others and if you are lucky, Cheetahs. Head back to camp for lunch and rest for the afternoon.

Later in the evening, you take a sunset river cruise which will give you an opportunity to experience the park and the animals from an amazing vantage point. Here you will get up close and personal with elephants, hippos, Nile crocodiles and an array of water birds.

Head back to camp for dinner and accommodation at Chobe Safari Lodge.

Day 8: Visit Kasane town and Transfer to Kasane Airport.

 Wake up at leisure and have a relaxed breakfast meal at your camp. Bid farewell to the park and drive to Kasane town which is located about 60 kilometres from the national park. Here you will spend the largest part of your morning and afternoon exploring the town and visiting local shops in the area where you can grab yourself some souvenirs.  Have lunch and transfer to Kasane airport where you will board your flight back home.
