Detailed Itinerary for 11 Days South Africa Tour.

Day 1: Arrival in Johannesburg.

Arrival in Johannesburg (morning hours) and transfer to your hotel. You will then head out for a brief city tour where you will visit interesting places in Johannesburg like Maropeng Cradle of Humankind and Sterkfontein Cave. Learn more about the fossil discoveries in the area and explore some of the excavated sites. Drive back to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: City Tour-Johannesburg.

After having your breakfast, you will take a guided tour of Soweto Township. Soweto was an important center of South Africa’s anti-apartheid movement and home to its leader, Nelson Mandela. Visit the Mandela House Museum and learn about this painful chapter in the country’s history. Have lunch at any of the local resturants. In the evening, enjoy a traditional South African braai (barbecue) with your fellow travellers. Dinner and overnight at Malikana Guesthouse.

Day 3: Johannesburg – Mpumalanga – Kruger

Breakfast is served in the hotel. Transfer to Mpumalanga via vehicle at the specified hour. You’re on your way to Kruger National Park, which is home to some of South Africa’s most famous animals. Visit some of Blyde River Canyon’s most iconic attractions along the journey, including Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window, and the Three Rondavels. The natural grandeur of South Africa’s landscapes will wow you! Arrive at the airport and be transferred to the hotel for check-in.  Dinner and an overnight stay in Kruger.

Day 4: Wildlife Viewing in Kruger National Park

At Kruger National Park, do a full-day 4×4 game drive. Start your day on safari in the southern region of South Africa’s most famous game reserves with a quick breakfast. The ‘Southern Circle’ is a popular game viewing region famed for its rhinos and lions. Discover the remarkable array of animals in one of the world’s largest game reserves on an afternoon game drive in Kruger National Park. Bring comfortable shoes, a warm and rainproof jacket, a sunhat and sunscreen, as well as cameras to photograph the lovely wildlife. Dinner with a night’s stay.

Day 5: Kruger National Park

Breakfast is served in the hotel. Explore the spectacular natural landscapes of Kruger and the White River on your own time. An optional day trip to Kruger National Park is recommended to see more of the park’s wildlife-rich eco-systems. Stay at the Kruger National Park for the night.

Optional: Alternatively, Venture into the Kruger National Park for a chance to see the fabled Big Five. Enjoy a leisurely drive through the national park, which is home to elephants, buffalos, giraffes, impalas, zebras, and lions. Day 6: Transfer to Johannesburg and Fly to Cape Town.

Breakfast is served in the hotel. Return to Johannesburg by road, pausing in Pretoria to see the Union Buildings, the South African government’s official headquarters. Arrive in Johannesburg and make your way to the airport for your journey to Cape Town. Arrive in the ‘Mother City,’ Cape Town, and be transferred to your accommodation. Staying in Cape Town for the night.

Day 7: Discover Cape Town

Breakfast is served in the hotel. In Cape Town, take the ticket hop-on hop-off tour. South Africa’s capital has a unique blend of cosmopolitanism, culture, architecture, and natural beauty. With the hop-on/hop-off ticket, you’ll be able to see over 30 different sights in the ‘Mother City.’ Take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain for one of the most stunning vistas of Africa’s surroundings. Transfer to your hotel in Cape Town for an overnight stay.

Day 8: Full Day Wine Tour

This morning, get up early to begin your trek to Africa’s southernmost point, Cape Agulhus (approximately 5 hours). Before arriving in Hermanus, you’ll travel along the famous R320 winemaking route, stopping at two or three wineries along the way. The cooling Atlantic Ocean, which washes up through Cape Town and brings with it a pleasant breeze that cools the grapes grown here, has a strong influence on this region. French, German, and northern Italian grape types dominate the region, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Mourvedre, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinotage. Dinner and overnight stay in Cape Town.

Day 9: Full Day Cape Peninsula Excursion

Spend the entire day exploring the beautiful Cape Peninsula. Clifton, Camps Bay, Llandudno, and the incredible Twelve Apostles are just a few of the highlights of the Cape Peninsula. Before visiting the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point, stop in Noordhoek to see the native ostriches. Visit Simons Town, Muizenberg Beach, and the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, and fall in love with the Penguin Colony and Boulder’s Beach.

Day 10: Free Day-Cape Town.

Take a walk from Grotto Beach down the cliff and beach route, or through the local shopping strip, to take in the sights of Hermanus. After there, take the picturesque bay road back to Cape Town (approximately 4 hours). Cape Town is one of Africa’s most alluring towns, with its magnificent coastline, dramatic surrounding mountains, and modern downtown. With wineries, adventure activities, and plenty of nice restaurants and cafes right on your doorstep, it’s a great place to end your journey.

Day 11: Airport Transfer and Departure.

After breakfast, have your guide/driver take you on a tour of Johannesburg city where you will have a chance to visit some interesting places in the city like the Apartheid Museum, Gold Reef City Theme Park, Johannesburg Zoo, and the Cradle of Humankind among others. After lunch, your driver/guide will drop you off at the airport. End of Tour.
