8 Days Great Migration Tour, Mara River Crossing

Overview

Eight-Day Great Migration River Crossing is a custom safari package that offers a fantastic chance to see The Great Wildebeest Migration, one of nature’s greatest spectacles. As the animal grazers migrate northward, passing through Lobo and Wagakuria region on their way to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve, the wildebeest migration river crossing starts in July. Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya and the northern Serengeti National Park are home to the wildebeest herds in September. There are still many sizable herds of wildebeest in the region, and occasionally weather patterns may allow the herds to return from the Mara. The herds traverse the Lobo region of the Serengeti National Park in October as they head southward towards the park’s centre.

You will begin our safari by travelling to Tarangire National Park for incredible game drive from Arusha. Situated in the Manyara region of Tanzania, this vast national park is distinguished by its abundance of elephants, lions that climb trees, and the amazing baobab trees, which are known as the Tree of Life due to their almost legendary qualities in some cultures. Tarangire River, which runs through this park year-round and provides the only water supply for animals during dry seasons, is its most famous feature. You will appreciate seeing a lot of animals while you are here. You will check into your lodging for dinner and an overnight stay in the late afternoon.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park.

Onn the third day of the safari. After an early morning breakfast, you will set off on a full day game drive in the wilderness following the Great Migration trails. Tanzania is the best place in Africa for a safari because of this well-known event, which your knowledgeable driver tour guide will fill you in on.

About 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelles live in a well-known UNESCO world heritage site. These animals accompany the wildebeest on their journey in search of new grazing. Enjoy the unique noises produced by more than six million hooves hitting the wide-open grasslands. This is exactly what you thought Africa would be like!

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 04: Serengeti National Park (Kogatende).

After breakfast, you will go on a full-day wildlife drive in the Mara region to witness the great migration. The Wagakuria region has an extraordinarily large population of resident fauna. The Mara River is the main attraction; there’s a good possibility you’ll see the herds cross it one day to the north and return to the south a few days later. Please be aware that seeing crossings might occasionally depend on luck and can be exceedingly challenging. A herd is observed near the river; they do not decide to cross for several days. This place is breathtaking, resembling Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve with its kopjes, woodland, riverine vegetation, and open plains. Late in the afternoon, you will head to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 05: Serengeti National Park (North Mara).

After a leisurely breakfast in the morning, you and your driver guide will travel to the northern Serengeti to witness the Great Migration in the Mara region. Mara River is the main feature, and it is usual to witness the herds travelling north on one day and then returning south on another many days later. Please be aware that it might be quite difficult and occasionally luck-based to find a crossing. Herds have occasionally been spotted near rivers, but they don’t always opt to cross right away. This place is breathtaking, resembling Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve with its kopjes, woodland, riverine vegetation, and open plains. You will check into your reserved lodging for dinner and an overnight stay late in the afternoon.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

You will take part in another game drive in the Serengeti National Park on this safari day. In the afternoon, you visit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Olduvai Gorge Museum, one of East Africa’s most well-known archaeological sites. Hominin footprints from 3.6 million years ago have been preserved in volcanic rock in Laetoli, 45 km south of the Olduvai Gorge. These footprints are among the earliest evidence of human habitation on Earth. You will later drive to your booked accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay

Day 07: Ngorongoro Crater Tour.

The crater area is the other great location on this trip. You begin with a wildlife drive inside the Ngorongoro Crater early in the morning. The world-famous Ngorongoro Crater serves as the centerpiece of the vast highland Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA), which is located along the eastern arm of the Rift Valley. The purpose of Ngorongoro was to protect animals and other natural resources. It also encourages tourism and protects the rights of indigenous people.
