Detailed Itinerary for 6 Days Whitewater Rafting in Victoria Falls-Zimbabwe

Day 1: Welcome to Victoria Falls: Zambezi Sunset Cruise

Pickup in the morning from your hotel at Victoria Falls or upon your arrival at Victoria Falls Airport. Transfer to Victoria Falls where you will meet up with your rafting guide for a briefing. During the briefing, you will discuss the adventure that lies ahead of you and also get things like dry bags and sleeping bags. Later in the evening, you will get to enjoy a spectacular Zambezi Sunset Cruise spiced by views of basking crocodiles, hippos and abundant birdlife within the area! Day 2: Under the sprays of Victoria Falls and Rafting

Guests should breakfast at their hotel prior to pick up at 9a.m when they will be driven to our office where the river safety briefing is held. The first part of any rafting experience is very much a learning exercise paddling practice and safety! Real fun starts today with a vagary experience of swimming under the tiny sprays of Victoria Falls.Swim and enjoy the breeze of this iconic landmark before tackling the 28 Kilometers of whitewater. This stretch is by far the wildest section of river that will be covered during your six day trip. Some featured rapids on this day include morning glory, Stairway to Heaven, Land of The Giants, and The Devil’s Toilet Bowl; and not forgetting one of the world’s most action packed rapids-the ‘Oblivion.’ This rapid is responsible for 90% of all tube stands and raft surf! You will reach your beach campsite at in the evening where you will have a few snacks and some chilled cocktails while your guides prepare your dinner.

Day 3: Explore Moemba Falls

Have a delightful English breakfast as you watch the sunrise over the beautiful Batoka Gorge. Then, with all the equipment once more stowed securely for the voyage downstream. You will cast off into a world of exhilarating action and scenes of remarkable beauty. Some of the Zambezi incredible rapids are featured here today Open Season, The Narrows, Chamamba Falls and Upper Moemba to mention just a few.  The gorge opens up to give you a glimpse to some wildlife, such as crocodiles and klipspringers and a vast array of birdlife species. Dinner and overnight at Camp.

Day 4: The Ghost Rider- The Best Rapid on the River

Have a relaxed breakfast in the morning and head downstream the towering waves of Ghost rider. It is the biggest commercially run-able roller coaster wave train in the world and also the rapid biggest and best rapid on the Zambezi River- a Class 5 big water rapid at its best. There are three enormous waves where rafts disappear behind only to re-appear on top of the wave. This rapid is truly worth the journey! The sight of the empty raft successfully running the rapid in the twilight (after two others had flipped) inspired him to name the rapid Ghost rider. After surviving the Ghost rider rapid it will be the time to open your cooler boxes full of beers and sip down the small rapids whilst recalling the memorable experience that you just had. Later get to your camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Victoria Falls

After breakfast, you will rig the boats and paddle past a set of small rapids before negotiating a more technical rapid named ‘Asleep at the Wheel.’ After departing camp we drift past Fish Eagle’s nests, negotiate rapids – Wave Train, Jay Bay, and Bismarck’s Territory which is home to a particularly large species of crocodile named Bismarck! You will also paddle to the Smugglers Camp which is the biggest fisherman’s village that you will encounter during your voyage. Get a chance to interact with the friendly locals living in this village as they take you through their simple day-to-day lifestyles. Later have dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 6: Transfer Back to Airport & Departure.

Bid farewell to the land of the Zambezi!  Have your delightful breakfast. You will raft past islands in the river, havens for Egyptian Geese and basking crocodiles. After a couple of hours, you will meet up with your safari guide near the Matetsi River mouth to end your incredible 6 days whitewater rafting trip in Victoria Falls. You transfer back to Victoria Falls by road with lunch on route. The journey back takes approximately 3 hours. You guide will drop you off at your hotel at Victoria Falls or directly at the airport in time to check-in and board your flight back home later in the evening. End of Trip!
